सिलियन मर्फी ने इससे पहले कभी गैंगस्टर टाइप रोल नहीं किया था।


शो के निर्माता स्टीवन नाइट पहले किसी रफ-टफ चेहरे वाले एक्टर को लेना चाहते थे, लेकिन सिलियन ने उन्हें एक टेक्स्ट भेजा: "Remember, I'm an actor." और बस, वो टॉमी बन गए।

Tommy is almost always smoking on screen, but in real life, Cillian doesn’t like smoking at all.

What he smokes in the show are herbal, nicotine-free cigarettes.

The slow, cold, and calm voice Tommy uses in the series? That’s not how Cillian sounds in real life — he developed it specially for the role.

The Birmingham (Brummie) accent is very specific and considered difficult.

Cillian is Irish, 

but he trained hard to speak like someone from Birmingham.
